History

First Post!

This is the -over 1 year- history of the farmhouse while it was in our possesion.

When we first bought 'the farm' (as we now refer to it) it was in rough shape. The structure was mostly fine but there was alot of cosmetic fixes to do to it. Window shutters had fallen off, the inside was a mess. There was old paneling on the wall, gross (lead) paint covered the walls and floor. Alot of improvement occured.

As you can see, it was rough, the front door was pretty much rotted through.
This is the room you enter when coming in through the side door. You can see the remnants of red paint on the floor and the wall was a dirty beige colour. This is the kitchen, the floor is ugly, peeling vinyl and you can see the paneling I mentioned. You can't tell in this picture but the ceiling is absolutely black with soot. This is the galley kitchen which consists of a double sink, cabinets and very limited counter space.

This is the first floor bedroom, the light is literally a bulb hanging on a wire, and the ceiling is falling apart.
This is one of 2 of the upstairs bedrooms, the other one being identical to this one.
This the dining room (or parlour, as it would have been in it's day). And yes, that is just a mantle.

In my next post, I'll show you the farm in present times.
